His Excellency Dr. Abdul Salam Hamid, Minister of Transport, accompanied by the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Captain Ali Al-Subhi, conducted an inspection visit, today, Wednesday, to Yemen Gulf of Aden Ports Corporation, to discuss a number of important and sensitive issues.
They were received by Dr. Mohammad Alawi Amzerba, the Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of YGAPC and members of the Corporation's senior management.
During the meeting, a number of issues were discussed, starting with the problem of dilapidated oil tankers in the port, and ways to prevent them from causing pollution accidents or the risk of their sinking in the port, as well as legal and procedural aspects in the presence of representatives of legal affairs in the corporation and the leadership of the General Authority for Maritime Affairs.
The meeting discussed the procedural steps that have been taken regarding the issue of the back lands of the port, which represent strategic areas for the development and expansion of the port and marine services.
His Excellency the Minister of Transport appreciated the great efforts made in this regard by the Executive Chairman of YGAPC and the General Department of Legal Affairs, after the successful issuance of Cabinet Resolution No. (29) for the year 2021 , regarding port lands.
Requesting the Corporation to follow up on the implementation of the procedures related to the implementation of the resolution and to enhance the presence of the Corporation's name in these locations by establishing warning panels that these lands are owned by YGAPC.
For his part, the Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of YGAPC, Dr. Mohammad Alawi Amzerba, praised the Ministry's efforts in following up on the issuance of the resolution. He emphasized that an operations cell had been formed to follow up on any developments in these lands, in addition to announcements would be made on a continuous basis about the ownership of these lands, to ensure that they were not invaded.
At the end of the meeting, His Excellency the Minister of Transport stressed that the Presidential Command Council and the government are paying attention to the port of Aden, as one of the most important sovereign facilities that must be supported to contribute more to the development of the national economy, and to attract investors to the port of Aden, which he said will remain the best in its distinguished strategic location.
