Aden Container Terminal orders for new handling equipments that comes along with overall maintenance of the terminal superstructure. 17 August 2016 – Aden Ports Development Company (APDC) the current Operator and Manager of Aden Container Terminal (ACT) in the Port of Aden has ordered for new container handling equipments which expected to arrive before the yearend. The new equipments are; 1- Two Kalmar Reach Stackers with maximum lifting capacity of 50 tons.
2- Twelve Kalmar Tractors and Trailers with 85 tons carrying capacity.
3- Supply of two Caterpillar Generators with more than 7 MW power generations. These comes in addition to the;
4- Overall maintenance has been done to the current Generators of 3.5 MW.
5- Set of new contracts with the vendors for the supply of the required spare parts and engines for the Rubber Tire Gantries (RTGs), two engines have already arrived and the remaining delivery time is expected in the coming days.
In addition, APDC has recently completed the project of linking the whole terminal area with Surveillance Cameras covering the whole terminal premises and surrounding areas with 360 degrees and 1000 meter distance, However terminal has completed the refurbishment of the Business Center building and respective terminal buildings which have not maintained since terminal operations commencements on 1999.
The Terminal Management is closely working with the concern authorities in the Free Zone towards the maintenance and expansion of the main road to cope up with the increase in the business activities and traffic flows in the main road from Caltex roundabout to the terminal.
APDC intends towards the increase of terminal performance and productivity, and invites the Port customers to enhance the mutual business relationship and develop the partnership with the Port of Aden seeking to revitalize the commercial activities of the City of Aden that is going to be reflected in the participation of the Economic growth of the republic of Yemen.
