The Yemen Gulf of Aden Ports Corporation is pleased to confirm the status of the Port of Aden as a Safe & Busy Port and that the conflict in Yemen has not affected any ships in Aden since 2015.
We confirm that all the terminals at the Port, i.e. the Oil Harbour, the Aden Container Terminal, Ma’alla Terminal and Aden Gulf Terminal (AGT), have been operating normally since 21 August 2015. The anchorage and inner harbour buoy berths have been used by thousands of vessels since October 2015.
The mechanism for securing permission for ships to call Aden has been greatly improved and there are no reports of delays to ships due to the process of obtaining permits from the Authorities to berth at Aden since March 2018.
Bulk and general cargoes are being handled at the Ma’alla Terminal at rates of up to 10,000 MT/day and the port has been achieving record throughputs of cargo in 2018. The Port handled over Four Million tonnes of bulk, break-bulk and general cargo in 2018, which is the highest in seven years.
