On the morning of April 18, 2019, a scientific seminar was held on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the construction of the tourist Pier in Tawahi Directorate. It was established on 21 April 1919 and was known as the Prince of Wales Wharf.
During the seminar, Mr Mohamed Alawi Amzerba, the Executive Chairman of YGAPC, reviewed the historical and archaeological importance of this building, which was destroyed during the unjust war in 2015. He explained to the attendees the steps taken by Yemen Gulf of Aden Ports Corporation in coordination with government agencies to rehabilitate this historic edifice of Aden, where the work will be under the supervision of the port of Aden in cooperation with the Hayel Saeed Anam Group. The Minister of Transport Mr Saleh Al-Gabwani noted the importance of rehabilitating this building, which represents a historic landmark for the city of Aden and the Ministry's interest in restoring all historical buildings of this ancient city. Dr Alaa Habashi, a specialist in the field of restoration, reviewed the details of the project on the building materials and the renovations carried during the previous periods. He presented to the attendees through social communication, two experts in the field of restoration giving general ideas on the stages of rebuilding this historical landmark in order to be built according to historical importance and according to modern international environmental standards. The seminar was attended by the Minister of Culture, the Director of Aden Security, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Information, the President of Aden University, the Deputy Governor and a number of social personalities and civil society organizations. In the end, the participants were invited to comment.
