The Head of the Logistics Contracting Unit at the World Food Programme (WFP) Yemen, Br. Khusro Jawed, visited the Port of Aden today Wednesday, March 17, 2021 in order to get acquainted with the port's facilities and activities. He was accompanied on a harbour tour by Eng./ Abdulrab Al-Khulaqui, Deputy Executive Chairman of the port, who gave a detailed explanation of the strategic importance of the port of Aden and how it is able to effectively serve the flow of aid cargo into Yemen. He also explained technical details of the port's various facilities, their importance and capacities, and the damage they were subjected to during the recent conflict.
Eng./ Muhammad bin Muhammad Shaif, Director General of the Technical Department, welcomed the Port’s guest, noting the importance of the role that the Technical Department plays in the Port of Aden and the need to support the Corporation in rehabilitating the workshops that were destroyed.
At the end of the meeting, Eng./Al-Khulaqui informed Br. Khusro of the appreciation and thanks of Dr. Mohamed Alawi Amzerba, the Executive Chairman of the Corporation, to the World Food Program. The WFP has recently provided cargo handling equipment to the port to enhance its productive capacity. Dr Amzerba expressed the hope that further strategic projects will be implemented as the relationship between the port and the WFP continues to develop.
At the end of the meeting, Al-Khulaqui informed Br. Khusro of the appreciation and thanks of Dr. Mohamed Alawi Amzerba, the Executive Chairman of the Corporation, of the World Food Program, for supporting the port with equipment that would enhance the production capacity of the port, hoping to support them with more strategic projects.
