The Deputy Chairman Meets with Development Alternatives Incorporated Company (DAI)

On Monday morning, December 9, 2024, Eng. Abdulrab Jaber Al-Khulaqi, Deputy Chairman of YGAPC, met with representatives of Development Alternatives Incorporated (DAI) Company, Mr. Aladdin Shawa, Senior Governance and Economics Advisor, and Mr. Mazen Abdo, Governance Expert. DAI is a company with a long track record of partnerships with governments and institutions in the Middle East and North Africa region. The company's visit to the corporation was facilitated by the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Deputy Chairman welcomed the company’s representatives, expressing his pleasure with the meeting, which aims to contribute to improving governance, fostering economic growth, and strengthening public institutions. He provided an overview of the corporation's operations, as well as the challenges and difficulties faced by the port.

Mr. Aladdin Shawa, Senior Advisor at DAI, spoke about the company’s interest in contributing to an economic program expected to be funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). This project will focus on three main objectives: enhancing the macroeconomic functions of Yemeni institutions, strengthening trade facilitation policies, and boosting private sector engagement to support small, medium, and micro-enterprises.

Mr. Mazen Abdo, Governance Expert, emphasized that an upcoming exploratory mission will be critical to ensuring the proposal aligns with the needs and priorities of the Yemeni government, as well as the challenges faced by key institutions. The mission will focus on:

  1. Improving the macroeconomic functions of key institutions.
  2. Strengthening trade facilitation policies.
  3. Enhancing private sector engagement.

The meeting was attended by the  General Manager of Planning, Marketing and Information Department, Mr. Ahmed Muthana Al-Ammari, along with several leaders and managers of the corporation.
